According to the American Institute of Stress, there are numerous studies that show that workplace stress is one of the major causes of stress in Americans and it has gotten progressively worse over the last few decades. This leads to increase risk of heart attacks, high-blood pressure, stroke, and other maladies. This puts a huge burden on employers.  
 
At Mindset Strategies, we not only teach tools to help deal and manage stress but we also provide very specific and tangible tools to deal with "people issues". We have worked with Fortune 100 companies to small businesses and we help companies increase employee engagement by teaching tools that help to foster "psychologically safe" environments. Research shows that creating a psychologically safe environments (meaning people feel safe to be who they are, speak up with out feeling like they will lose their job and feel accepted in the workplace,) helps to increase employee engagement. We teach tools to help create this environment and maintain it. We also provide tools to deal with stress, teach tools to increase self-awareness, manage strong emotions and build better relationships. 
 
The ideal amount of time we like to work with companies to see meaningful results are over a 6 - 12 month period. This helps to increase the adoption of tools in order to see more of a lasting change.

2. Wisdom Circles:

Often times difficulties arise at work and we need a confidant. Wisdom Circles are a group of 4 or 5 people that meet bi-weekly for 3 months. The group will provide wisdom to each other to help with particular challenges in the workplace. 

3. Mindful Coaching

These are one - on- one coaching sessions in which participants will learn the basics of mindfulness and emotional intelligence. They will learn how to become more self-aware, notice their blind spots, manage their emotions, difficult situations / conversations and more. Coaching will be customized and tailored to each individual.

WORKSHOP #1

*Basics of  Mindfulness 

The purpose of this session is to provide an introduction of mindfulness to all participants and provide tools to help with focus, stress, attention control and building self-awareness. In this session we will answer the following questions: 

  • What is mindfulness?
  • Why is mindfulness important for me and my current position?
  • What are the tools to help me to be more focused and connect better with my colleagues?
  • How does mindfulness help me increase self-awareness? 

Learning Objectives:

Participants in this session will learn the following:

  • (2) tools to help them be more focused less stressed
  • (1) tool to help build better relationships with others instantly 
  • Overview and definition of mindfulness
  • Neuroscience studies around mindfulness to suggest its effectiveness
  • A meditation to help bring more calm, focus and presence

  • Being more present / focused in meetings, calls, presentations, etc
  • Tools to bring an overall sense of calm / presence / groundedness to work / clients / colleagues which results in better decision making, focus, productiveness, engagement

WORKSHOP #2

*Self-Awareness 

In this session we will learn how mindfulness helps us to be more self-aware. We will discuss the research around mindfulness and self-awareness. This will be an interactive session in which we will play a mindfulness game that will reinforce the trainings from the first session and increase self-awareness. 

Learning Objectives:

  • Overview and definition of self-awareness
  • Listening exercise that increases self-awareness
  • (2) studies that show the effectiveness of self-awareness 
  • A meditation that helps with self-awareness
  • A mindfulness game

Results of the session (if tools are implemented consistently): 

  • Increased self-awareness as it relates to listening to others
  • Enhanced listening skills that can result in better deals, better relationships with clients / colleagues / bosses
  • Increased level of building relationships with more focus with a sense of understanding first

WORKSHOP #3

*Self Awareness Part 2 / Intro Self Management: 

The purpose of this workshop is to continue with the learning of self-awareness through journaling exercises. We will kick off this session with journaling to help us become more self-aware. We will then get into the basics of self-management (how to manage emotions when we get upset, angry, frustrated. 

Learning Objectives:

  • Participants will journal and discover how that helps to increase self-awareness
  • Learn (2) studies to help support the importance of journaling
  • Learn (2) tools to help with managing their strong emotions
  • Practice the P.A.U.S.E technique and meditation

Results of the session (if tools are implemented consistently): 

  • Increased self-awareness as it relates to journaling
  • (2) tools to help manage strong emotions 
  • Feeling a sense of calm and presence

*Self-Compassion:

Often times we beat ourselves up when we make a mistake, do something wrong or we are not where we want to be in our lives. We are our own worst enemy. Therefore this session will look at self-compassion and the research behind self-compassion and how it can help to motivate us and make us better leaders. 

Learning Objectives:

  • Learn the importance of self-compassion -- what it is and why it’s important
  • Studies that support self-compassion
  • Meditation that supports self-compassion
  • (2) tool to support self-compassion

Results:

  • Know what self-compassion is and is not
  • Be able to practice self-compassion
  • Feeling better about one self and the challenges ahead

*Empathy / Compassion 

The purpose of this workshop is to provide clarity on what empathy is and what it is not. We will discuss research on what makes the “perfect” team and how to foster this in our own teams. We will discuss the neuroscience of empathy and do several practices / tools to cultivate empathy in our own work environment.  

Learning Objectives:

  • Participants will learn the difference between sympathy and empathy
  • Participants will learn what makes the perfect teams
  • Neuroscience studies to show the effects of empathy on the brain
  • (2) tools / practices to cultivate empathy

Results:

  • Know what empathy is and is not
  • Be able to practice empathy
  • Feeling better about one self and the humanity of others.

WORKSHOP #6

 

*Difficult Conversations: 

We are often in “sticky” and “tricky” situations and we are never taught the tools or the steps to having a difficult conversation whether that is at work or at home. The purpose of this workshop is to do the prep work for having a difficult conversation.  We will also go over the steps in having a difficult conversation so participants will feel a little more at ease in having this type of conversation. 

Learning Objectives:

  • Participants will prep for having a difficult conversation 
  • Participants will learn the 5 steps to having a difficult conversation 
  • (1) tool to help support having a difficult conversation

Results:

  • Know how to prep for a difficult conversation
  • Know the steps and what it takes to have a difficult conversation
  • Having an additional tool to manage the stress of a difficult conversation
